The Story of Equal Teaching

Equal Teaching’s journey began in 2011 under our parent company, Equal Education Partners by mother and son team, Carolyn and Liam with a simple brief:

Great educators change lives and they deserve to be valued, supported and given real opportunities to thrive.

At the time, Carolyn had spent years working in education as a Modern Foreign Languages teacher and could see a clear gap in the way supply teachers and education professionals were treated. Too often they were seen as temporary solutions rather than valued members of the education community.

Carolyn believed there was a better way.

With the help of Liam, then a recent Politics, Philosophy & Economics (PPE) from Yale-NUS College and Yale University working in global investment banking, they focused on building a company rooted in fairness which had a deep understanding of schools.

What began as a small recruitment operation grew through strong relationships with educators and school leaders across Wales. Equal also developed broader initiatives that support educator development, widen access to opportunity and explore how technology can improve the way schools attract and manage talent. But as Equal expanded, the mission remained clear and the core recruitment business central.

To reflect the ambition of our recruitment work, we launched Equal Teaching as a dedicated brand.

Equal Teaching builds on the experience and values developed since 2011, while providing a clear home for our work connecting educators with outstanding opportunities in schools.

Our experienced team continue to work closely with all our educators, supporting them at every stage of their journey.

From the first conversations about career goals, to placements in schools where they can make a real impact, to continued career growth through professional development, we provide guidance and practical advice throughout the process.

Many of our team come from education backgrounds themselves, which means we understand both the challenges and the opportunities within the profession.

Our role is clear: to support great educators, help schools find the talent they need and build partnerships that allow both to thrive.

Now it’s over to you.

Join the Equal Teaching family to discover the opportunities waiting for you in education and feel supported, feel valued and feel equal each day.
